Machining Titanium

Superior Machining of Titanium

Monroe Engineering & Machining has the skills and experience to produce your difficult to machine titanium components.

Titanium and titanium alloys are in increased demand because they have a number of desirable properties. Titanium has a better strength to weight ratio than most metals at room temperature, is light weight, has good strength properties, resistance to corrosion and is non-magnetic. There are however, a few difficulties that are encountered when machining titanium.

Forming titanium is similar to forming stainless steel. Titanium can be machined on mills, lathes and grinders, but the tools must be sharp and continuous feeds used to prevent the work hardening of the material. Tapping is difficult due to galling. With an experienced machined products supplier such as Monroe Engineering & Machining - Monroe titanium products can turn out very well and serve a variety of purposes.
